About ZOPA

A voice for Zimbabwe's elderly.

A registered non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of older persons through care, empowerment, training and advocacy.

Who we are

More than fifteen years serving older persons.

Zimbabwe Old People Association (ZOPA) is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of older persons in Zimbabwe. For more than fifteen years we have worked alongside communities, families and volunteers to ensure that elderly Zimbabweans are seen, supported and heard.

Through psychosocial support, economic empowerment, caregiver training, health initiatives and advocacy, we promote dignity, independence and well-being for the elderly — while fostering stronger, more inclusive communities for all.

Our mission

To support older persons in Zimbabwe through holistic, community-based programs that strengthen dignity, independence and quality of life — and to advocate for their rights, respect and inclusion in every aspect of society.

Our vision

A Zimbabwe where every older person lives with dignity, is valued by their community, and has access to the care, health support and economic opportunity they need to thrive.

Our values

  • Dignity first. Every service we deliver protects the respect and self-worth of the person receiving it.
  • Community-rooted. We work where people live, with the families and neighbours who know them best.
  • Practical empowerment. Skills, income and independence matter as much as comfort and care.
  • Accountability. We report on what we deliver, to the communities and partners we serve.

Our team & volunteers

ZOPA is powered by a small staff team and a growing network of trained volunteers — including nurse aides, community caregivers, trainers and advocates who work directly with older persons and their families.

Our volunteers are trained in basic nursing, elderly care, dementia support and community engagement, so the support we deliver is consistent, compassionate and clinically sound.
